We're country folk at heart and our designs show it. Our approach to design is to keep things simple and reminiscent of early American country when life was hard but the things that made us happy were simple. Leaning on Shaker and Farmhouse style, we know you'll find the perfect piece for your collection.
"A jack of all trades is a master of none but oftentimes better than a master of one"
At 14 years old, Christopher began working for his parents' victorian home restoration company where he learned a variety of woodworking skills apprenticing for experts. Hardwood flooring, joinery, framing, and wood refinishing are just a short list of the skills he developed over 5 years with the company.
Over the next 20 years of his life, he became an EMT, he learned computer programming, developed software, earned a degree in finance, started a web hosting company, and served as CEO for Engage Healthcare Marketing.
After 12 years of marketing hospital emergency rooms, Covid-19 hit and dealt his company a huge blow. Hospitals began being overloaded and didn't need patient volume growth anymore; so Christopher had to regroup.
Dusting off his woodworking skills and also putting on the. hat of "teacher", Christopher turned a 3-car garage into a fully functional wood shop and began teaching his wife Grace the trade.
Born in the small village of Viga on the island of Catanduanes in the Philippines, Mary Grace (but we call her Grace) grew up the youngest of 8 siblings whose family focused mostly on rice farming.
After her primary education, Grace went to college and earned a degree in Civil Engineering while working in Manila for some of the largest companies in the world (PayPal, Verizon, etc...).
Growing up in Viga, working with your hands was the most abundant type of work around and Grace learned a variety of skills from her older siblings over the years.
Grace immigrated to the United States in 2013 and calls Texas her home now. From the moment she set foot on U.S. soil, Grace wanted a wood shop and the lockdowns and social distancing that Covid-19 inflicted on the world turned out to be a turning point in her life.
in 2019, a wood shop was born and Grace threw herself headfirst into the world of woodworking learning what she could from Christopher and then building on that through YouTube channels like The Wood Whisperer, The Woodshop Diaries, and Blacktail Studio.
Grace now has her own brand at WoodByGrace.com, an Etsy Store, and a YouTube Channel.
